The electrical requirements are not extensive, in your home you will require the following parts for your installation set-up. As of August 2023 these are available for under £60 assuming armored cable length of 5 metres. The links below are not affiliates and act to offer a description of what you are likely to need based on a normal residential setting.
Most residential settings will require no more than a 32A breaker for the heater, the plug and socket are rated at 32A and 6mm cable will carry 41A. The length of the run will make the current capacity of the cable fall based on the cable efficiency. In the event of a fault with the heating unit the breaker will activate before any issue is witnessed in the connection method or the cable. This is vital, if the run is too long the capacity of the cable may fall below the 32A that the heater requires and the breaker will allow.
In this scenario the excess current in the cable is a serious safety hazard.
For ease of consideration the distance from the consumer unit is the key factor, the suggestions we offer take an average house as a basis. The parts suggested will cover a run of up to 50m, if all things are equal, which they seldom are. We suggest you work to a 25 metre safety tolerance, for anything longer than this it would be wise to seek advice.
If in any doubt whatsoever, please seek appropriate advice.
